Recently, many parts of Henan Province experienced continuous rainfall, posing a severe challenge to the autumn harvest. However, at Xingguang Farm in Xingyang, Zhengzhou, a heartwarming relay of love unfolded—the Chicheng Electric Union launched a charity campaign, inviting employee families to the fields to harvest hope with their own hands and convey warmth through companionship, making charity a warm bond connecting the company, employees, and society.
01 Harvesting the Fruits of a Bountiful Harvest, Sowing the Seeds of Charity
Xingguang Farm is a charity base jointly operated by families with children with special needs. The children, accompanied by their families, planted various agricultural products such as black peanuts, sweet potatoes, and radishes. However, nearly two months of continuous rainy weather severely affected the timely harvesting and sales of the agricultural products. Upon learning that the farm was facing harvest difficulties due to limited manpower, the Chicheng Electric Union acted quickly, organizing a team of employee volunteers to rush to the fields. Wielding hoes to dig potatoes, pull radishes, and pick peanuts… Chicheng employees, usually busy in laboratories and production lines, transformed into “new farmers,” experiencing the purity of labor and the joy of helping others amidst the soil and sweat.
During the event, parent-child teams competed and, under the guidance of agricultural technicians, successfully completed the harvesting task. In the intense competition, the children demonstrated their hard work and perseverance, learning to cherish what they had while laboring, and the seeds of public service quietly took root in their hearts. One participating employee remarked, “When I was bending over to work, thinking that these fruits would help children in need, my fatigue instantly turned into strength.”
02 Charitable Purchasing: Making Kindness a Sustainable Cycle
The joy of harvesting didn’t just stay in the fields. Chicheng Electric’s labor union also launched a “purchasing instead of donating” initiative, not only collectively ordering crops as employee benefits but also encouraging employees to voluntarily purchase farm produce. Bags of sweet and crisp radishes and sweet potatoes were eagerly purchased by employees, supporting public welfare through consumption. According to statistics, this agricultural assistance campaign purchased over 500 jin (approximately 250 catties) of agricultural products, effectively alleviating sales pressure and allowing these special children to feel the attention and kindness of society.
